Historical Spinoff List for Backtest
We offer a historical list of over 200 US spinoffs from 1996 to present, for use in backtesting spinoff investment strategies. Please contact us for pricing. Sorry, but we do not offer academic or other discounts for this item.
The list is delivered as an Excel spreadsheet. Each listed spinoff shows the following information:
- Parent company and trading symbol
- Spinoff company and symbol
- Spinoff type (distribution or carve-out)
- Distribution ratio if applicable
- Distribution or listing date
- Approximate market capitalization
This list is very complete from June 2005. Prior to that date, it is reasonably complete for distribution-type spinoffs, and does not include carve-outs.
